This handsome building was erected in 1907 by a wealthy developer
merchant named Loke Chow Kit. This PAM building was sold to Alan Loke
Yew. It was later converted into the Empire Hotel before the Japanese
Occupation, and after the War was, for a time, reopened as the
Peninsular Hotel catering mainly for Europeans. It was then left vacant.
In 1973, the Malaysian Association of Architects took over the building
as its headquarters. It has since been used the lectures, classes,
meetings and exhibitions.
