This handsome building was erected in 1907 by a wealthy developer 
merchant named Loke Chow Kit. This PAM building was sold to Alan Loke 
Yew. It was later converted into the Empire Hotel before the Japanese 
Occupation, and after the War was, for a time, reopened as the 
Peninsular Hotel catering mainly for Europeans. It was then left vacant.
 In 1973, the Malaysian Association of Architects took over the building
 as its headquarters. It has since been used the lectures, classes, 
meetings and exhibitions.
