This painting is about the old house of Malay dwelling, which is found in Peninsular Malaysia. Some people have explained that the features of this house are an origin of local architecturally. The architectural style of this house commonly found in the states of Perak and Kedah, the lands on the west coast. It was given the name 'Rumah Melayu Kedah'.

Almost all building materials used for this house are obtained in around the place. Look at the carvings in the wall panels, balustrades, lattices, door panels and casements. These are wooden. The woodcarvings were produced by skillful local carpenters.
